I found this article to be very interesting. I felt as though it covered many of the major issues we are dealing with in regards to newer generations. One of the most interesting parts was when they were talking about how the “Millenials” always have to have something in their hands or something that will keep their attention. I found this to be true right after I read the article. I went to get dinner and while waiting in about a ten minute line for food the girls in front of me pulled out their IPhone and started playing games together. I felt that this just proved the article to be correct about the attention span of the Millenials these days.
I also enjoyed when the teachers were talking about the difference in children in the schools. They talked about how everything has to be hands on with lots of group projects. They also explained that students can no longer sit through long classes. I am an advocate for hands on activities however I also feel that students are in the classroom because the teachers have something for them to learn. Even though the Internet and other technologies are great resources, I believe there is something to be said for experience in different fields.
Ultimately I believe we have to find some kind of happy medium between modern technology and the "older way of teaching." I think that combining the two aspects will create an enriching academic environment in which different learning styles can learn best.
